Repair Workmanship Warranty: 60 Days
Every repair performed at our Oceanside, Encinitas, and Carlsbad shops includes a 60-day workmanship warranty. The warranty covers the specific work we performed and any parts we installed. If the same issue returns within 60 days of pickup, bring the device back — we'll re-diagnose and re-do the work at no additional labor cost.
What's Covered
- The specific repair we performed (the symptom that brought you in).
- Any parts we installed during the repair, against defect or premature failure.
- Workmanship-related issues: cable routing, mount, thermal paste, software configuration we performed.
- Re-diagnosis and labor to address a covered failure within the 60-day window.
What's Not Covered
- Unrelated issues that surface after pickup (a different part fails, a different symptom appears).
- New malware infections — see our virus removal service. The 60-day warranty on a malware cleanup covers reinfection by the same vector; new infections from new sources are a separate job.
- Damage caused by power surges, liquid, drops, fire, or other physical events after the repair.
- Modifications or further repairs performed by third parties after pickup.
- Software issues unrelated to the repair (operating system errors, third-party application crashes, user-installed software conflicts).
- Parts the customer supplied (we'll install them, but their warranty is between you and the supplier).
New Custom System Builds: 1 Year
Custom-built PCs from PC Repair Center — including gaming, content creation, AI workstation, and small-business builds — carry a full 1-year warranty covering parts and labor on the assembled system. Individual components retain their own multi-year manufacturer warranties (typically 2–10 years on PSUs, RAM, SSDs, GPUs, and motherboards) which continue independently of our 1-year window.
What's Covered
- All hardware components we sourced and installed.
- Labor to diagnose and replace defective components.
- Workmanship: cable management, cooler mount, BIOS configuration we performed.
- Hardware-related stability and performance issues with the build as delivered.
What's Not Covered
- Software issues, including operating system errors or malware.
- Damage caused by power surges, liquid, drops, or improper use.
- Modifications or upgrades performed by third parties — especially overclocks, cooler swaps, or component additions that change the thermal/electrical envelope of the build.
- Customer-supplied parts (we'll install them and warranty our labor; the part's warranty stays with you).
Manufacturer Pass-Through Warranties
Most PC components carry their own manufacturer warranties — often far longer than ours. When we install a new component during a repair, that component's manufacturer warranty stays with the part for its full duration, regardless of our 60-day window. Typical durations:
- Power supplies — 5 to 10 years on quality 80+ Gold/Platinum units
- RAM (DDR4, DDR5) — Lifetime limited from major brands (Crucial, Corsair, G.Skill, Kingston)
- SSDs (NVMe, SATA) — 3 to 5 years, sometimes endurance-limited (TBW)
- GPUs — 2 to 3 years from most board partners
- Motherboards — 3 years typical
- Laptop / phone batteries — 6 to 12 months from the cell manufacturer
If a part we installed fails outside our 60-day window but inside its manufacturer warranty, we'll diagnose the failure at no charge and help facilitate the RMA. A written diagnostic report from us speeds up most manufacturer RMA processes.
How to Make a Warranty Claim
- Contact us by phone, email, or in person at any of our three shops. Have your original repair invoice or order number handy if you can — it speeds up the lookup. We can also find you by name and phone number.
- Free re-check. We re-diagnose at no charge. If the issue is the same one we repaired, we proceed under the 60-day workmanship warranty. If it's something new, we explain what we found and quote separately before any billable work.
- Resolution. For warranty work, we re-do the repair at no additional labor cost. For parts under manufacturer warranty, we process the RMA and install the replacement when it arrives.
After the Warranty Window: Our Satisfaction Policy
We've heard from customers who had problems with a previous repair show up after the warranty expired and didn't know what to do next. Here's our standing policy:
- Free re-check, always. If something we worked on fails — at any point, even years later — bring it back for a free diagnostic. No charge to look at it. We'll tell you whether it's the same issue, a related issue, or something new.
- Honest answer first. If we made a mistake, we'll say so and discuss what we can do to make it right — even outside the warranty window. Goodwill discounts, partial labor credits, or full re-do at our cost when the situation warrants it. We'd rather keep a customer than save a labor charge.
- Manufacturer warranty pursuit. If a part we installed fails outside our 60-day window but is still under the part's manufacturer warranty, we diagnose it free and walk you through (or handle) the RMA.
- Standard repair pricing for unrelated work. If the new failure is unrelated to anything we previously did (a different component, a different symptom), it's a standard new repair quoted like any other — but the diagnostic to determine that is still free for past customers.
We're a small local shop. Reputation matters more to us than any single repair. If you're a returning customer with an issue — call us first before assuming you're out of luck. We almost always have a path forward.
Limitations & Disclaimers
The warranties on this page are limited to the specific repair or build we performed. Liability under any warranty is limited to repair, replacement, or refund of the original repair cost at our discretion. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential damages, lost profits, lost data (we strongly recommend regular backups), or down-time costs. The warranty is non-transferable and requires the original repair invoice or in-system service record. These terms apply to repairs and builds performed at all PC Repair Center shops in California.
