Free Business Electronics Recycling — Pickup or Drop-Off, No Cost
Replacing a fleet of office computers? Decommissioning a server room? Closing an office? Don’t pay a hauler to take your old IT equipment away — and definitely don’t put it in the trash. PC Repair Center offers free electronics recycling for North County San Diego businesses, with two simple options:

- You drop off — bring it to any of our three shops anytime during business hours. No charge, no minimum quantity, no appointment required for drop-off.
Both paths include secure handling, optional certificate of destruction for your records, and an audit-friendly chain of custody for compliance-sensitive industries (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, attorney files, financial records).

🚚 Free On-Site Pickup
Qualifying business pickups across North County. Schedule by phone — typically next-business-day.

What We Accept From Businesses
We take essentially anything with a plug or a battery that came out of a business environment:
Computing & Storage
- Desktop PCs, all-in-ones, mini-PCs, thin clients
- Laptops, MacBooks, Chromebooks
- Servers (tower and rack-mount), NAS units, SAN enclosures
- Hard drives (HDD, SSD, NVMe), tape drives, removable media
- External drives, USB drives, SD/CF cards
Networking & Power
- Routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points
- Patch panels, structured cabling spools, fiber transceivers
- UPS / battery backups (we handle the lead-acid disposal correctly)
- PDUs, server-rack accessories, KVM switches
Displays & Peripherals
- Monitors (LCD, LED, OLED, CRT — yes, even old CRTs)
- Printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, label printers
- Keyboards, mice, headsets, conference-room equipment
- Projectors, digital signage, video walls
Phones & Mobile
- VoIP desk phones, conference phones, headsets
- Old smartphones (company-issued or BYOD turn-ins)
- Tablets, iPads, point-of-sale terminals
Misc Office IT
- Cables (Ethernet, fiber, HDMI, USB, power)
- Server-room rails, racks, shelves
- Old A/V equipment, video conferencing systems
- Lab and engineering electronics
- E-waste batteries (laptop, UPS, mobile) — we handle these per California regs
What we don’t take: large appliances (refrigerators, washers), CFL/fluorescent tube bulbs, hazardous chemicals, or anything still wet from liquid damage. For those, we’ll point you to the appropriate certified handler.
How Free On-Site Pickup Works
For businesses across Oceanside, Encinitas, Carlsbad, and surrounding North County cities, we’ll send a tech and a vehicle to collect your equipment at no charge. Here’s how it works:
Pickup Qualification
Free pickup is available for:
- Volume threshold: roughly 5+ items (a desk-load of computers, a few monitors, or a single server is enough). Smaller pickups can usually still be accommodated — just call.
- Service area: Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Cardiff, Solana Beach, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Escondido, Camp Pendleton — roughly within a 20-minute drive of one of our shops. Outside that area, talk to us; we can usually still help, with a small mileage fee for very long pickups.
- Access: ground-floor or freight-elevator-accessible. For heavy server racks, let us know in advance so we bring the right equipment (dollies, straps, padding).
What to Expect
- Schedule by phone or email. Tell us roughly what you have (estimated count of computers, monitors, servers, etc.) and your preferred pickup window.
- Confirmation within one business day with a scheduled arrival time. Most pickups happen within 1–3 business days; rush requests for office moves or end-of-quarter decommissions are usually accommodated.
- On-site collection. We arrive with a vehicle, dollies, packing materials, and an inventory sheet. We log device-level detail if you need it for asset retirement records.
- Sealed transport to our facility. Drives stay with their host machines unless you’ve requested separate destruction handling — see Secure Data Destruction.
- Certificate of Destruction issued on request, typically within 5 business days. Includes inventory and (where applicable) serial numbers.
How Free Drop-Off Works
The drop-off path is even simpler. No appointment. No minimum. No charge.
Walk into any of our three shops during business hours with whatever you have. We’ll take it off your hands at the counter, give you a receipt if you need one, and process it through the same secure recycling chain.
This is the right option for:
- Single-device retirements (one old PC, a monitor, a printer)
- Employee-turn-in cleanups (10–20 laptops accumulated over a quarter)
- Small offices without a freight-elevator scenario
- Anyone who happens to be passing the shop and wants it gone
For drop-offs over ~25 items, we can stage receiving so you don’t have to carry everything in at once — call ahead and we’ll meet you at the door.
Data Security: What Happens to Your Drives
This is the most common business concern, and rightly so. We do not browse, copy, or read data from incoming drives — that’s a baseline data-handling promise that applies to every device in our shop.
For business recycling specifically, you have three options for storage media:
Option 1: Software Wipe (NIST 800-88 Compliant) — Standard
Drives are wiped using NIST 800-88 Clear or Purge methods (whichever is appropriate for the media type — different for HDD vs SSD vs NVMe). We then verify the wipe and pass the drive into the recycling stream.
Option 2: Physical Destruction
For drives carrying highly sensitive data (medical, legal, financial, classified), we physically destroy the platter or NAND. You can witness the destruction in-shop if your compliance framework requires it. Detailed in Secure Data Destruction.
Option 3: Customer-Retained Drives
Some businesses prefer to keep the drives and recycle only the chassis. That’s fine — we’ll pull the drives, hand them back, and recycle the rest at no charge.
For all options, we issue a Certificate of Destruction on request, listing the date, method, device count, and (where supplied) serial numbers. This is what your compliance officer or auditor will ask for.
Compliance & Industry Frameworks
We work with North County businesses across regulated industries and provide documentation that supports each framework’s e-waste / data-disposal requirements:
- HIPAA (medical / dental practices) — protected health information requires verifiable destruction with a documented chain of custody. Our Certificate of Destruction satisfies the HIPAA Security Rule’s media disposal documentation requirement.
- PCI-DSS (retail / hospitality / e-commerce) — credit-card-handling drives need NIST 800-88 Purge or physical destruction. Both supported.
- SOX / financial compliance — auditable disposal records for financial workstations, ATM controllers, and POS retirement.
- California CCPA / CPRA — disposal of consumer-data-bearing media with documentation.
- DOD / classified work (DoD 5220.22-M) — three-pass overwrite + certificate available on request, though for true classified material we’ll discuss appropriate handling.
- Attorney-client privileged data — physical destruction recommended; chain-of-custody documentation per California Bar best-practice guidance.
If your industry has a framework not listed and you need specific documentation, ask — we can usually accommodate.
Office Decommissions, Moves & Closures
Larger projects we regularly handle:
- Office decommissions and closures — full clear-outs of 50–500+ devices, scheduled around your move-out date or lease end. We coordinate with your moving company and IT vendor so nothing important leaves the building uninventoried.
- Hardware refresh cycles — quarterly or annual fleet refreshes where 20–100 old units come out and new ones come in. We can pick up and process old equipment in scheduled batches synced to your replacement deployments.
- Data-center decom — server racks, networking gear, structured cabling. We bring the right equipment and budget more time for these.
- Acquisitions and consolidations — when two companies merge and one office’s equipment becomes redundant. Documentation supports asset write-offs for accounting.
- Bankruptcy / receivership — we can work with court-appointed trustees or asset-recovery firms when an office is being liquidated.
For projects over ~100 devices, we’ll come on-site for a free walkthrough first to scope volume, plan the staging area, and confirm any special handling (UPS batteries, fluorescent backlight monitors, etc.).
Asset-Recovery & Refurb Credits
Not every retired business device is worthless. We periodically buy back or trade-credit recent-generation business hardware that has resale value:
- Recent business laptops (2–4 years old) — Lenovo ThinkPad, Dell Latitude, HP EliteBook, MacBook Pro/Air
- Servers, switches, firewalls — current-generation enterprise networking gear
- Monitors, docks, peripherals — only when in good condition
If your fleet has resale value, we’ll assess at pickup or drop-off and offer either a check, a service credit, or simply a lower invoice on related work (e.g., your replacement build-out). For most older or end-of-life gear, the recycling is simply free — you don’t pay, you don’t get paid, the gear gets handled responsibly.
This isn’t a guaranteed offer for every device — most equipment doesn’t qualify. But it’s worth asking on the way in.
Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
California has some of the strictest e-waste laws in the country. Computers, monitors, batteries, and most electronics are classified as Universal Waste and cannot legally go in regular trash. As a registered handler we ensure every device flows to:
- R2v3-certified recyclers for material recovery (metals, plastics, rare earths)
- CRT and lead-glass specialists for old monitors and TVs
- Battery handlers licensed for lithium-ion and lead-acid
- Refurb partners for devices that can be reused rather than shredded
- Final-disposition documentation kept on file for our regulatory record
This matters to your business because: (1) state law puts responsibility on the original owner to ensure proper disposal, and (2) some industries audit downstream e-waste handlers as part of supplier vetting. We can supply downstream documentation for businesses that need it.

We serve businesses in Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Camp Pendleton, Fire Mountain, Mira Costa, and South Oceanside. Pickup vehicles dispatch from this shop for the northern North County corridor; if your office is closer to Carlsbad or Encinitas, our pickup tech will route from whichever shop is closest on the day. Walk-in drop-off welcome 9:30 AM–7:00 PM weekdays.
Encinitas
Walk-in drop-off and free pickup origin shop at 384 N El Camino Real — call (760) 944-9944. Pickup service for Encinitas, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Leucadia, Olivenhain, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and Rancho Santa Fe dispatches from here. Coastal-corridor business customers (medical/dental practices on PCH, professional services along Coast Hwy 101, and the Encinitas business parks) make up most of our pickup volume from this shop.
Carlsbad
Drop-off and pickup-origin shop at 2365 Marron Rd, Ste B — call (760) 722-0779 to schedule. Currently by appointment for in-shop visits while signage is finalized. Free pickup for Carlsbad Village, Aviara, Bressi Ranch, La Costa, Calavera Hills, Olde Carlsbad, and surrounding business parks dispatches from this shop or from Encinitas, whichever is closer. Carlsbad Research Center, Carlsbad Airport business district, and the El Camino Real corridor are well within our standard pickup zone.
For businesses outside our standard 20-minute service zone, contact any shop and we’ll discuss options — sometimes we can still pick up at a small mileage fee, sometimes it’s most efficient to ship a few boxes to us for free drop-off-style processing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is business electronics recycling really free?
Yes. Drop-off at any of our three shops is free for any volume — one device or several pallets. On-site pickup is free for qualifying volumes (roughly 5+ items) within our standard North County service area (~20 minutes from a shop). For very large or very distant pickups, we may discuss a small fee, but for the vast majority of North County business retirements, it’s no cost.
How do I schedule a pickup?
Call any of our three shops, or email info@pcrepaircenter.net with a rough item count and your address. We’ll confirm a pickup window within one business day — typically pickup happens 1–3 business days out. Rush requests for office moves or end-of-quarter decommissions are usually accommodated.
What about my data? Can I trust you with our drives?
Yes — and we welcome the question. Our default policy is that no one in the shop browses or reads data from incoming drives. For business recycling we offer three handling options: NIST 800-88 software wipe (standard, certificate available), physical destruction (witnessable in-shop if your compliance requires it), or you keep the drives and we recycle just the chassis. See Secure Data Destruction for full detail, or ask for a written non-disclosure agreement on pickup if your industry requires it.
Can you provide a Certificate of Destruction?
Yes, on request. The certificate lists the date, the destruction method (wipe vs. physical), the device count, and serial numbers where supplied. Issued within 5 business days of receipt. This is the document your compliance officer or auditor will ask for under HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOX, and similar frameworks.
What’s the minimum / maximum volume you handle?
No minimum on drop-off. Free pickup typically starts around 5+ items but we’re flexible — call and we’ll figure it out. On the high end, we’ve handled office decommissions of 500+ devices and data-center clear-outs with full server racks. For projects over ~100 devices, we recommend a free on-site walkthrough first to scope volume and plan staging.
Do you take CRT monitors and old TVs?
Yes. CRT monitors, lead-glass TVs, and similar legacy displays are accepted at all three shops and on pickups. They’re handled by certified CRT-glass specialists in our recycling chain — you can’t put them in regular trash in California, and we make sure they flow through the right channel.
Will I get any value back for retired equipment?
Sometimes. For recent-generation business hardware (laptops 2–4 years old, current-generation servers / switches / firewalls, good-condition monitors), we may offer a check, service credit, or invoice offset on related work. Most older or end-of-life gear doesn’t qualify — we just take it off your hands free. We’ll assess at pickup or drop-off; no obligation either way.
What if my office is outside Oceanside / Encinitas / Carlsbad?
Our standard free-pickup zone covers Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Cardiff, Solana Beach, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Escondido, and Camp Pendleton — roughly a 20-minute radius from one of our shops. Outside that, we can usually still help — sometimes a small mileage fee for very long pickups, sometimes shipping boxes to us is the most efficient path. Call and we’ll sort it.
Do you handle UPS / lead-acid batteries?
Yes. UPS units, server-room battery backups, and lead-acid batteries are accepted and routed through licensed battery handlers per California Universal Waste regulations. We can pick up complete UPS units (including the heavy ones from server racks) on scheduled pickups.
Are donations tax-deductible?
We’re a for-profit recycler, not a nonprofit, so a donation to PC Repair Center is not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution. However, retired equipment can sometimes be written off as an asset disposal — your accountant will want our recycling receipt and (if applicable) our Certificate of Destruction for that. If tax-deductible donation matters to you, we can refer you to local nonprofit refurbishers who accept working business equipment.
